AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A man is now behind bars after police say he started to fight with an officer.
Just before 4:00 Tuesday morning, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of East 10th on a burglar alarm at Chihuahua Motors. Officers were able to secure the building but a business representative was not available to meet with the officers.
At 4:40 a.m., officers met a representative of the business. As officers were checking the area, they saw a man hiding in a shed at the next door business.
After approaching the man to question him, he refused to move his hands from his pockets, police said.
Police attempted to take the man into custody and they say he then began to fight with the officer.
The man was tasered and additional officers were called in, police said.
Enrique Alonse Lopez, 33, was booked into the Potter County Jail for Burglary of a Building, Assault on a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest and two outstanding Capias traffic warrants.
In his possession, according to police, was a semi automatic replica type air soft pistol.
The officer and Lopez were taken to the hospital where both were treated for minor injuries.
