CANYON, TEXAS -- A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
According to District Attorney Randall Sims, Thomas Wooten, 52, was found guilty on one charge of aggravated sexual assault. He was found not guilty on two of the other aggravated sexual assault charges.
The jury deliberated for a total of four hours. Wooten received life in prison. He will receive 30 years for day before he can be considered for parole.
Sims said at the time of the offense, the child was an 11-year-old girl. Wotten also has four prior felony convictions: Aggravated Robbery, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Enhanced, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Attempted Retaliation.
