CARSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- More than $1 million dollars in marijuana was seized during two weekend drug busts in Carson County.

The first happened just before 1:00 Saturday morning. Texas Department of Public Safety said it found 20 pounds of high grade marijuana valued at $108,000. The marijuana was found after a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta was pulled over four miles east of Conway on Interstate 40. Consent to search the vehicle was granted and the drugs were found inside of luggage in the trunk of the vehicle, DPS said.

Vincent P. Dibenedetto, 39 of Las Vegas, Nev. was taken into custody for possession of marijuana. DPS said the drugs were being transported from Nevada to Delaware.

The second drug bust happened Sunday evening just after 7:00. DPS said it attempted to pull over a 2012 Mazda car about seven miles east of Conway on I-40 for speeding. That's when Troopers said a 2003 Honda Civic was following closely behind the Mazda when it blocked their attempts to pass the vehicle.

A second Trooper was called in to assist and DPS said the Honda swerved in an attempt to strike the first DPS unit.

DPS said after the near collision, both vehicles were pulled over. The first vehicle, according to DPS, contained 155 pounds of high grade marijuana. Found in the vehicle's trunk, it was valued at $837,775. DPS said the marijuana was being transported from California to Florida.

Sibole R. Wenton, 32 of Clearwater Beach, Fla., the driver of the Mazda and William J. Rivers of Sunset, S.C., the driver of the Honda were arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for possession of marijuana.

DPS said this investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
