AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A late night fire on Tuesday is being blamed by cardboard boxes being too close to a heat source, fire officials said.

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a fire just after 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of SW 11th Ave. It happened in a unit of the quad plex.

Thankfully, the fire was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials said combustibles were too close to a heat source and that's what caused the blaze. AFD recommends that all combustible materials be kept at least three feet from any hear source, floor furnace or radiant space heaters.

As for damage, the fire is estimated at costing $5,000.
