AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 32-year-old Amarillo man was killed early Saturday morning when his pickup struck a semi, police said.

32-year-old Frank Julian Zamora of Amarillo was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup Saturday morning just before 1. The pickup was traveling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard East approaching a red light at the intersection of North Eastern.

Police said a semi tractor was stopped at the light in the same lane the pickup was traveling. When the light turned green, the semi started into the intersection and the pickup struck it from behind, police said.

Zamora was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The driver of the semi was treated and released.

No charges have been filed in this crash.
