CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - A former Curry County jail administrator has been allowed to resign and has been awarded nearly $70, 000 under a new settlement.

The Clovis New Journal reports that new court records showed that Lois Bean was awarded $69,500 and undisclosed attorney fees according to an agreement reached. Her employment records at the county will also contain what is described as a "neutral" letter concerning her employment.

In 2009, Bean was fired by County Manager Lance Pyle, who noted at the time that while she had initiated changes at the county's troubled jail "other crucial steps that have been directed are not being made priorities."

She filed an employment discrimination lawsuit soon after her dismissal.
