CANYON, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man was indicted by a Randall County grand jury Wednesday for capital murder.

Phillip Wade Schindler, 38, is accused in the strangling death of 37-year-old Clay Petersen last November, according to the indictment. The indictment indicated Schindler intentionally killed Petersen in the course of committing robbery.

Petersen's body was found in a ditch off Smelter Road.

In February Schindler, along with William Doan, was indicted for tampering with evidence by moving a dead body.

Special Crimes said it believed Petersen's body had been moved from the 4900 block of Princeton to the location of discovery.

Schindler now faces life without parole if convicted.
