CARSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- 10 years ago, the Texas Preservation board began to focus attention on and generate support for threatened historic properties as they began campaigns around the state to preserve at risk sites.
Since it started naming site back in 2004, two panhandle area properties made the list -- the Mulkey theatre in Clarendon and Booker T Washington school in Wellington.
On Thursday, they added a third -- the Panhandle Inn in Carson County.
"It just the story it tells of the Panhandle Region, the history of the Panhandle is just so... Texas and this building, this hotel really symbolizes that time period," according to Krista Gebbia, with Preservation Texas.
Nominations for the most endangered list can be submitted by local groups, individuals, and government agencies to Preservation Texas.
