AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A new scam is circulating via text message and it has a lot of local banks warning their customers.

Happy State Bank, Education Credit Union and Amarillo National Bank customers are all reporting getting a text message saying their card had been deactivated.

In the message, the customers is asked to call an 806-576-####. Once the phone number is called, a recorded voice will ask you to enter your full 16-digit card number and your PIN.

If you did fall victim to the scam, you're asked to call your bank immediately, as well as police.

A statement on Happy State Bank and Education Credit Union's website says they will never send you a text message or an email to notify their customers that their card has been deactivated and would never ask for your 16-digit number and your PIN number to reactivate the card.
