AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 23-year-old pedestrian remains in an Amarillo hospital after being struck by a PT Cruiser Saturday evening on an Interstate 27 Frontage Road.
According to Amarillo Police, a pedestrian, identified as 23-year-old Alexander McFarland, was crossing the South Frontage Road from south to north in the middle of the block in front of the Georgia Street exit.
That's when police said a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Carla Abbott, 70, of Amarillo, was exiting I-27 northbound at the Georgia Street exit. Police said McFarland walked in front of the vehicle and was struck.
McFarland was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
