AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Good news for techies in Amarillo: Best Buy will not be closing.
Best Buy announced on Saturday the locations of 50 stores it will be closing this year.
Just two locations listed were in Texas; those cities include San Antonio and Austin.
The electronics giant said just last month it was planning to close some of its "Big Box" stores, cut 400 corporate jobs and trim $800 million in costs. Best Buy said it plans to open 100 smaller, more profitable Best Buy Mobile stores.
Best Buy has approximately 1,400 locations in the United States. It is trying to avoid the fate of Circuit City which went our of business back in 2009.
Some stores that are facing closure will close on May 12 and others will close this summer.
