Amarillo men sentenced in meth conspiracy case

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two Amarillo men were sentenced in a federal court Wednesday for a count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Valentin Roman Sanchez, 29, of Amarillo, was sentenced to 45 months in federal prison. Jose Luis Pando, 34, also of Amarillo, was sentenced to 120 months in prison.

According to United States Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña, both men have been in custody since last November.

Another man in the case, 32-year-old Adrian Garcia Baeza, 32, was sentenced in March to 135 months in federal prison to the same charge.

Authorities said the investigation included numerous undercover purchases of large quantities of methamphetamine and large sums of case. Search warrants were executed and approximately $147,000 in U.S. Currency was found inside a concealed compartment belonging to Pando, according to court documents. More than $25,000 was found in Baeza's residence, officials said.

The DEA and the FBI along with the Amarillo Police Department were involved with the investigation.
