SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Authorities have captured a suspect in connection with the stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend and another woman. San Antonio police say 36-year-old Corey Hiller was caught yesterday afternoon after being hit by a truck during a foot chase. Police say the ex-girlfriend's 11-year-old son was also stabbed, but survived.
DEL RIO, Texas (AP) -Nearly two dozen people have been arrested in a South Texas drug-dealing sweep. Authorities say most of the suspects are from Dimmit County and all face initial court appearances today. Investigators say the drug deals allegedly took place near two elementary schools.
HOUSTON (AP) - A former Army postmaster in Texas has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for stealing more than $560,000 worth of military money orders. Thirty-four-year-old Delmus Scott Jr. of Humble has also been fined $7,500. Scott worked for a contractor that provided postal services to military personnel in Kuwait.
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A 23-year-old Brownsville man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for smuggling more than $100,000 from Georgia to Mexico. A judge imposed the sentence against Gilbert Cuello III on Wednesday in federal court in Mississippi. Cuello was taken into custody after a deputy stopped him last October on Interstate 10 for a seat-belt violation.
