COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A disaster volunteer from the Texas Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross has been sent to help with disaster relief operations for the devastating wildfires near Colorado Springs.

Mary Lou Farnum was sent on Tuesday evening to help with IT Operations support. She will be there for a three week period, officials said. Her duties will include working to help meet the needs of individuals and families displaced by the wildfire.

Hundreds of Red Cross disaster workers are in Colorado working to provide more than 320 overnight shelter stays, 31,000 meals and snacks and more than 3,000 health and mental health consultations.

The Waldo Canyon Fire has forced more than 32,000 people to be evacuated from their homes.
