A Canyon teen has been formally charged in the murder of a Canyon man.

Randall County District Attorney today charged Apollo Rivera Rodriquez for the July 3, death of Harold Dean Finch.

Rodriguez has been accused of hitting Finch while attempting to steal his truck. The crime occurred in Canyon in the Hunsley Hills neighborhood.

According to police, a 2011 GMC pickup was in the process of being stolen from the driveway of the home. Finch along with another man attempted to stop the suspect. Police said the witness fired several rounds toward the pickup from a handgun.

Finch was apparently struck and ran over by the fleeing vehicle, police said.

Police found the vehicle later on a putting green of the Palo Duro Creek Golf Course.
