AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 5 hit the shelves nationwide this morning, and in Amarillo the phone remains as popular as ever.
"Honestly I think this one's probably been the most anticipated over the last few models," Travis Green, owner of AT&T on Gem Lake Road said. "The fact that it's a redesign of the phone, it's just something new."
The iPhone 5 is advertised as a thinner, faster working model, and Green's store sold out in roughly 'two hours'. But with more shipments on the way, he still believes purchasing from a store is the way to go.
"If they want it immediately, I would take my chances in the line," said Green. "the stores are usually stocked pretty well, we're usually very prepared to handle the customers and give them the best experience possible."
For customers who missed the original shipment, special stickers were given to reserve their phone when the next shipment arrived.
