AMARILLO, TX -- If you're a bit of a science geek, then today is certainly a good day for you.

A pair of notable events are taking place on this date, 3-14-2012.

We went to the Don Harrington Discovery Center to find out more...about "PI" day and reports of two "things" in the night sky.

Those two bright objects are a couple of planets and today is also March 14th or 3-14, which is are the first three digits of PI.

"What's going on outside... is called a plantary conjunction, when you have 2 planets in the sky. So what you're seeing is Venus and Jupiter about 3% apart in the right of ascension.

And today is 3-14 and Pi is a ratio of circumfrence of the diameter of a circle and it's 3.14159...it goes on forever." according to the Harrington Discovery Center Executive Director, Dr. Aaron Pan.

Coincidentally, way back in 1879, albert einstein was also born on this day.
