A New Year baby is a special thing. It's a history-making event, it's a tough birthday to forget, and it's a great story to tell.

And for two local families its a day they will always remember.

Dominic James Brown was born at BSA Hosptial at 12:18am on January 1st, making him the first 2009 baby born in Amarillo.

"It's really neat to have him on New Year's, it's a New Year's I'll never forget." Dominic's mom, Christen Brown said.

Grey Thomas Peterson was the second baby born at BSA on New Year's Day.

He came into the world just six minutes after Dominic, and a couple of weeks early.

"He was due January 12th and our doctor was out of town so we were kind of hoping we would have him early in the week and he was ready yesterday and I was ready yesterday." Grey's mom, Jennifer Peterson said.

But the excitement for the new babies is combined with bragging rights for the hospital.

It has been fourteen years since BSA Hosptial has delivered the first baby of the new year.
