DALLAS (AP) -- A state district judge could decide by next week whether to end life support for a severely abused 6-month-old Dallas baby.

Doctors say David Coronado Jr. has suffered severe brain damage, dozens of bone fractures and numerous scars - allegedly at the hands of his parents.

Besides severe brain and spinal cord injuries, a physician noted that the child has 42 skeletal injuries. His hands and feet appeared to have been pulled, twisted and crushed. His skin injuries include bruises and human bite marks.

Authorities say the only child of 23-year-old David Cesar Coronado Sr. and 22-year-old Ruthy Marie Chabolla wasn't breathing when they took him to Methodist Dallas Medical Center last month.

Child Protective Services says hospital staff revived the infant with CPR and rushed him to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Doctors were appalled by his injuries, including a bite wound to the bone of one of his fingers.

Police on Dec. 23 arrested Coronado and Chabolla on charges of injury to a child. Each remains in Dallas County jail under $500,000 bail.

Both parents deny deliberately causing any of his injuries.
