AMARILLO -- Once a month Ascension Academy hosts an "Afternoon with the Arts."

Sunday, the academy hall's were filled with music as the Amarillo Girl Choir performed for a crowd of 150.

The girls are aged 9 to 14 and have traveled internationally to perform.

The head of Ascension Academy said he wants the public to come to see the performances, and the school, free of charge, during the Sunday afternoon performance.

"Every time you surround young people with quality music or quality art, or quality dance, you're giving them, you're broadening their horizons to what the human spirit can be all about," said William Summerhill, head of Ascension Academy.

The date for next month's performance has not been set yet, but, as always, it's free for the whole family to come and join.
