More than 23 teams from area middle schools competed in the Pantex Middle School Science Bowl.

On Saturday more than 23 teams from area middle schools competed in a battle of the brains, in the Pantex Middle School Science Bowl.

The bowl is conducted like a gameshow, where teams compete against each other by answering questions focused on science and math.

Students have been training for months to win the grand prize of $1,000 for their school, along with the chance to represent the panhandle in Washington DC at the National Middle School Science Bowl.

The winning team captain says every member of the team offers something unique... And they weren't going home without winning it all.

"After winning 5th two years in a row, it feels pretty good," said Sam Haddad.

And, if you're wondering what the winning answer was, well it's the teams tradition to answer with the scientific answer, "Chuck Morris."

Second place honors include $500 and third gets $250 for their schools.

Congratulations to the entire blue team from St. Andrew's Episcopal school: Thomas Britt, Samuel Haddad, Drew Lindsey, Gabriel Maliha, Saahil Mehta.

Good luck in Washington D.C.
