Local Pizza Hut tries out a new service
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Pizza and beer seem to be a pretty common combination.
And now you can get them both delivered to your doorstep.
A local Pizza Hut sent out fliers this week advertising that they are now delivering beer as well as food.
The Pizza Hut on Coulter and Hillside began delivering this week. The flier says you must be 21 to order.
We thought, just like you might have, how is this legal?
TABC Lieutenant said, "It is legal, but must be delivered to someone who is old enough to consume alcohol, who's over 21 obviously, and drivers must only deliver to folks who are part of a wet county."
Bond said that since he's worked there the law has been the same.
"I'm going into my fifteenth year here, and this is how i've always known it to be." Bond said, "It's just not widely practiced. For most stores it just wouldn't work."
But Pizza Hut representatives say, they are willing to give it a try --and only right here in Amarillo.
"Right now," Pizza Hut Marketing Director Ashlie Marquez said, "This is our only test store, we're going to see how it works and how the community in Amarillo responds to that service, and go from there."
Marquez said that they have been working with the TABC for several months, making sure they were legally covered.
