AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A two-vehicle crash just before eight o'clock Sunday night just south of Amarillo sent several people to the hospital. 

Department of Public Safety officers initially told ProNews 7 that one person was killed in the accident, but Monday other DPS officials said that is not the case.

The accident happened at Coulter Road and Sundown Lane when a Dodge Stratus and a Chevy Avalanche collided.

Authorities extricated at least one of the passengers, and two people were taken away by a LifeStar helicopter.

At least four others were taken to the hospital by ambulance. 

The Department of Public Safety, Randall County and other agencies were at the scene investigating.
