Sexual assault charges of a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent near Austin shuts down operations
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- All TABC Minor Sting and Shoulder Tap operations have been suspended, because of a sexual misconduct charge on an agent near Austin.
Our local chapter of the TABC's operations are included in the suspension, but Lieutenant Bryan Bond says those operations are successful, and will most likely be reinstated.
"Minor stings are not going away," Bond said "I know that's not even going to be considered. I think, although there are some retailers that hate Minor Stings, the general consensus is that they are effective."
Bond said he hopes that those operations will start up again, by September.
"We're going to take this opportunity to review the policy in-depth, and see where we can improve it and we'll take some input from all interested parties," Bond said, "it won't be something we want to do behind closed doors--hopefully some in the industry will have some ideas on how we can improve them."
Bond also said that since these Minor Stings and Shoulder Tap operations are conducted by officers who have other responsibilities, no jobs have been lost.
