AMARILLO, TEXAS -- If you're going to be drinking this holiday weekend DPS wants to remind you to add "Finding a Designated Driver" to your to-do list.

The Amarillo Department of Public safety is going to have all available officers on duty this entire holiday weekend, from Friday to Sunday looking for signs of drunken driving, open containers and other violations.

During last year's Fourth of July weekend DPS arrested 22 people for DUI's and two collisions were because of alcohol.

"With the beautiful weather that we're having, and people love to bar-b-que and stuff like that," said DPS Trooper Gabriel Medrano "but we just want to remind everybody to make sure we have a designated driver before we start drinking and make sure that your DD does not drink."

New Mexico troopers will be conducting saturation checkpoints all around Clovis this weekend, as well.
