GUYMON, OKLAHOOMA (AP) -- School officials in Guymon were expecting more students this year - just not an increase that's three times larger than usual.

The district had 2,736 students last week - about 230 more than last year and Superintendent Doug Melton says there are no rooms left

Melton says one elementary school has added a portable building for classrooms to handle the additional students and another elementary that was recently built may need to do the same.

The district has seen a steady increase in students since 1995 when Seaboard Foods opened a hog-processing plant. Now a Walmart Supercenter and two hotels have recently opened creating more jobs - and people moving into the area looking for jobs.

Melton says a final enrollment count will be made Thursday.
