HOUSTON, TEXAS (AP) -- Kathy Barton with Houston's Department of Health and Human Services says Kenneth Lane Beckett is the only person who has died from the swine flu in the city.

Beckett was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with flu-like symptoms on Sept. 21. He tested positive for swine flu at the hospital and died there three days later.

Harris County sheriff's officials said Beckett also had other medical conditions in addition to the swine flu virus.

A Mexico City toddler who died in late April at Texas Children's Hospital is no longer being considered a local swine flu case because the child was not from Houston.
