WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas has given U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama a Texas turkey to settle their wager on the national championship football game.

Hutchison presented Shelby with a turkey Wednesday in Washington and congratulated the University of Alabama on its 37-21 victory over the University of Texas.

Hutchison is a Texas graduate and Shelby is an Alabama alumnus.

Shelby said he donated the turkey to Central Union Mission in Washington.
