Texas Panhandle War Memorial and America Supports You Texas hosted the tribute ceremony
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Texas Panhandle War Memorial and America Supports You Texas, hosted a fallen hero tribute memorial Saturday. The ceremony was highlighted by the announcement of all 31 fallen Texas Panhandle soldiers from the Iraq war.
Several families of those who lost their lives where on hand to help participate in the ceremony. Those families were presented with a wreath.
Genia Meyer lost her son Brandon in a battle in Iraq on January 28th, 2008.
"He wanted to serve his country, I guess from the time he was in junior high, but didn't tell us until high school. He just saw an enemy that wants to destroy anyone that doesn't have it's own theology and he understood that and just loved his country enough to serve," said Meyer.
Rosie Das lost her son Eric, who was shot down after 21 bombing missions over Iraq.
"I think just the continuing focus of appreciation for those that have served in Iraq and are still serving. We need to continue to keep our military in prayer in honor, and I feel like we need a flood of honor and patriotism to keep us together as a nation," said Das.
