Public hearings will focus on proposed tuition and fee increases
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Starting Monday, officials from West Texas A&M University are hosting 3 public hearings. The topic of discussion will be proposed tuition and fee increases, and various factors that play a role in the decision.
The first of the hearings was held Monday at the Chase Tower campus in Amarillo. Attendance was low, but officials are hoping for a large turnout on the Canyon campus. There will be two public hearings on Tuesday, the first is at 11:30 a.m. and the second will start at 4:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center, Legends.
Students, parents, and anyone interested are encouraged to attend.
"You hear about the budget, you hear a little about funding sources, you hear some of the things that are going on in Austin with regards to economic conditions, so I think the hearings provide more than just what your tuition might go up. It provides you with a really good general overview of the university and operations of the university," said Gary Barnes, Vice-President Business and Finance, WTAMU.
