Eight local students have been selected to perform in the Texas Music Education Association All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra. To achieve All-State status, students must audition and advance at All-Region, All-Area, and All-State competitions. The proclaimed TMEA All-State musicians are the 'cream of the crop' representing less than 1% of students entering the audition process.
Amarillo High students, John Hong (second year all-state) and Jessica Young, were selected for TMEA All-State Band. All-State Choir members include Tascosa students Haley Hartman, Elizabeth Carlisle, and Lucas Alvarado in addition to Justin Reyna from Caprock High School. Two Tascosa High School students, Isaiah Chapman (second year all-state) and Kimberly Huber, were chosen for TMEA All-State Orchestra.
The students will have the opportunity to perform at the Texas Music Educators Clinic and Convention. While at the convention the All-State students will have the opportunity and distinct honor to rehearse and perform with world renowned conductors. The concerts will be held on Saturday, February 13th at the San Antonio Convention Center.
