Troopers make 2 drug busts along I-40

Department of Public Safety Troopers were busy on Thursday with two separate traffic stops that led to two drug busts.

The first happened around 1:20 in the afternoon in Carson County near Conway on I-40. Troopers stopped Luis Fernando Reyna-Cruz and his passenger was Enemesio Aguilar-Torres both of Highland, California. During the stop Troopers were granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search troopers found six bundles of methamphetamine inside an engine compartment totaling to 5,143 grams, valued at $415,912. The driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Later that same day a California man was arrested for possession of marijuana. A trooper working in the same area in Carson County stopped a vehicle on I-40. During that stop the trooper requested consent to search the vehicle and was given consent. During the search the trooper found 35 pounds of hydroponic marijuana concealed in two bags inside of the trunk. The marijuana was valued at $122,500. The driver Stefan Howard Symons of Oakhurst, California was arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for possesion of marijuana.
