NICU nurses and families they cared for reunited and celebrated on Sunday
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Easter came a little early for some very special families on Sunday. The Children's Miracle Network and BSA hosted their annual Neo-natal infant care unit reunion party and celebration.
Families were treated to refreshments and posed for pictures with the Easter Bunny.
The celebration party allows nurses from the unit to see families and children who have graduated from their care and now are living healthy happy lives.
"When you have a baby in the NICU, you join an even bigger family, and there are people that support each other they've all been through the same roller coaster ride of having a baby that's sick and for them to all just get together and come see us, it's just a really wonderful thing," said Alecia Litchfield, RN at BSA NICU.
"All of the nurses were very supportive and they were there to take care of the girls, that's why we came to the reunion because they did such a good job with our girls, they're like aunts to them all," said Mika Bell, who attended with family.
The BSA NICU has served thousands of families in the Texas Panhandle. They have served and cared for 10 sets of triplets, 151 sets of twins, and their smallest patient weighed in at 1 pound. The NICU have hosted a reunion party for over 10 years now.
