AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Several ladies learned some hands on lessons in painting, drywall, and other building skills at Saturday's women build clinic. The event was hosted by Habitat for Humanity and helps prepare volunteers for the up coming "Women Build Week" where they will be put to work.

"Women Build Week" is a nation wide effort to get women involved with Habitat for Humanity. That week millions of women all over the nation will help build low income housing. Here locally, women from our area will be building a home starting May 1st. The official "Women Build Week" runs from May 1st to May 8th.

"We get dirty on the job site, it's dirty work, painting, landscaping, and building walls, but it's a good kind of dirty because you know you're helping somebody in the community and actually working hard doing it, so it's fun," said Becky Davis, Family Services Director of Amarillo Habitat for Humanity.

Locally, Habitat for Humanity has built around 80 homes for low income families. This will be the 2nd "Women Build Week" home built here in Amarillo.

If you are interested in participating, volunteers will be accepted all the way until the project is completed, so you have plenty of time. Just check out the links provided below for more information.
