AMARILLO, TX -- Updated Information:

At 3:11 p.m. Saturday, officers tried to pull over a 19-year-old man. The reason why is still unclear, but as the suspect pulled over, and the officer got out, the suspect took off in a white Astro Van.

He drove through some yards, fences, and went off the road near Blue Bonnet and Willow Creek. He came to a stop in a field, after getting entangled with a fence. Officers thought the chase was over, so they got out of their cars, and that's when the suspect managed to untangle his car with the fence, and started driving towards the police.

The suspect was coming towards the officers with his Astro Van, so the officers shot at the suspect, hitting him in the leg.

The suspect somehow got away back to highway 287 and drove off into the Canadian River bridge. He got stuck, and officers took him into custody.

The suspect is in the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The chase ended 19 minutes after the first shots were fired.

Initially, ProNews Seven reported the age as 18 for the suspect, that changed to 19 after a police update.
