AMARILLO,TEXAS -- You may have noticed at the end of each Oprah show, she talks about the No Phone Zone and how drivers need to stop using a phone while driving.

Beginning Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation will partner up with Oprah in calling for a national no phone zone in your car.

Statistically, your four times more likely to have a wreck while talking and 8 times more likely when you're texting while driving.

Tracy Tellman with the Texas Department of Transportation says, "There's nothing that can't wait until you get home or to a stop location as a safe place where you can talk or text. It takes an effort to talk on the phone while you're driving, it might not seem like it, but it does."

We spoke to mayor Debra McCartt Thursday who says she also supports the no phone zone and invites everyone to come to next Tuesday's commission meeting for a similiar announcement.
