CLOVIS, N.M. -- Concerned Citizens of Curry County held a public meeting on Thursday. But it appears it wasn't that public, after they turned away the media.
The Clovis News Journal reports that CCCC President David Briseno said the meeting was intended to inform federal investigators of "injustices" occurring in the Clovis Municipal Schools and to serve as an initial step for a possible civil rights probe.
About 60 people attended the meeting along with Justo Garcia a representative from the U.S. Department of Justice.
After almost 2 hours, Briseno said the meeting went well and the group plans to meet soon to discuss their next step.
Garcia said he was "not allowed to make any statement to the press."
