CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A crackdown on suspected illegal gambling in the Corpus Christi area led to nine arrests and the seizure of about 575 casino-style eight-liner machines.

Nueces County Sheriff Jim Kaelin (KAY'-lin) says employees were targeted. Workers were arrested are charges of suspicion of participation in an illegal gambling operation. No customers were arrested.

About $30,000 was confiscated from one of six locations raided Thursday in Agua Dulce, Banquette and Robstown.

Authorities say the undercover operation lasted about a year and the investigation continues.
