Canyon man appointed by Perry to state board

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the State Board of Trustees of the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System for terms to expire Sept. 1, 2015. The board establishes policy for the administration of the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System.
Dennis Rice of Canyon is a sergeant and fire marshal for the Randall County Sheriff's Office. He is past president of the West Texas Fire and Arson Investigators Association, and a member of the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association, and Panhandle Peace Officers Association. He is also a firefighter with the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department, a volunteer for the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, and a volunteer and former board member of the Amarillo, Potter and Randall Law Enforcement Benefit Fund. Rice received a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University.
Gracie Flores of Corpus Christi is a pension plan administrator for the Corpus Christi Firefighter's Retirement System. She is a member of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement System, recording secretary of the Texas Local Fire Fighter's Retirement Act Legislative Committee, and treasurer of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2544. Flores received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. She is reappointed to the board.
Virginia "Jenny" Moore of Lake Jackson is an office manager for Starboard Industries. She is a volunteer firefighter and investigator for the Lake Jackson Fire Department, a volunteer reserve officer with the Lake Jackson Police Department, and a former medic with Lake Jackson Emergency Medical Services. She is also a member of the State Fireman's and Fire Marshals Association, and the International Association of Arson Investigators. Moore received an associate degree from Brazosport Community College, and is a graduate of the Brazosport College Law Enforcement Academy.
