AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is proposing a ban on all drop-down side cribs.
More than 30 infants have died in the past ten years, prompting 11-million cribs to be recalled from seven different manufacturer's.
Those recalled cribs can no longer be sold in the U.S. and the commission is urging all consumers to either fix or dispose of their current drop-down cribs.
"We definitely want consumers to check the CPSC-dot-GOV website and you can find out if you have one of these products involved in the recalls. You can immobilize your drop down side with one of the repair kits from the firms" said Nichele Fleming with CPSC.
The ban on selling or re-selling drop-down cribs extends for retail, used furniture stores, and even garage sales.
