AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Every week Crime Stoppers names a few criminals they're looking to find. Saturday, all of the Crime Stoppers programs were invited to share information and ideas for safer communities in it's annual meeting and luncheon.
So far this year they have ve already had 735 tips and they've paid out $6,300. APD says Crime Stoppers even has a good success rate when it comes to recovering stolen property this year it's at 5,600 items recovered.
"Crime stoppers, a lot of people think that you're snitching, you know that you're just calling in for money, but actually about 60% of all the tips that come to fruition where we arrest somebody or we get something, only about 60% of those people that called in with that information will call back to try and claim a reward, those other 40% are people that just want to clean up their community," said Corporal Sean Slover, from the Amarillo Police Department.
Each year the event also honors officer of the year, congratulations to Cpl. Slover Robbynhart and board member of the year Robbyn Hart.
