AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo's city library has something different in the works. It is taking a closer look at a pulitzer prize-winning novel by Harper Lee.

It's part of the community reading program that highlights four books a year.  To celebrate the 50th anniversary of "To Kill A Mockingbird" the Amarillo library is hosting a panel discussion.

Experts in their fields will talk about how this book affected their areas of expertise, from civil rights, to criminal justice, to mental health.  "It had a big impact on society, you can see bands named after Boo Radley, you can see books written about To Kill A Mocking Bird, you can see elements of To Kill A Mocking Bird all throughout our society so this panel discussion is to talk about the impact this book has had," said Stacy Clopton Yates, the library Public Relations Coordinator.

The panel starts Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in the downtown public library. This is just one of many events the library hosts all year. For a full list you can visit their website.
