BORGER, TEXAS -- The town of Borger hosted a Martial Arts Tournament Saturday and one very special guest made an appearance. Mighty Morphin Green Power Ranger, actor and MMA fighter Jason Frank. But Saturday's event wasn't just about the opportunity for kids and parents to meet Frank, but to spread the message of values and respect.
Frank was welcomed with open arms in Borger. The idea behind the visit, to inspire young minds and attitudes.
"It's important to teach the kids martial arts, install brotherhood, dedication, respect, cooperation, discipline, confidence, attitude and self respect with all those combinations they should be smart enough to say no to drugs.", says Jason Frank, MMA Fighter and Actor.
Frank's friend, Master Mark Anthony Baca put together Saturday's tournament to teach the public that there are alternative methods to help keep kids safe from bullying and drugs.
"I try to train my kids, I train them to fight for self defense, but I train them to fight so they know how so they don't have to fight because they have the confidence already and they don't have to.", says Master Mark Anthony Baca, American Karate Studios.
The tournament wrapped up Saturday with several participants from elementary aged to high school, winning trophy's and medals. And at the end of the day, Both Frank and Baca hope the kids take home with them the core values of martial arts.
"we are here to teach the kids values that you know at home, they get values. Martial arts is a little different you have a reinforcement you have a sensai, a master instructor who reinforcing the mom the dads saying, yes, listen at home be a first time listener keep your eyes on your parents when they're talking, things like that.", says Jason Frank.
