Pot plants found growing near high school

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Marijuana plants were found growing in the back yard of a home across the street from River Road High school. The Potter and Randall County Sheriff's Offices executed a narcotics search warrant in the 200 block of Mobley north of the city inside Potter County.

The suspect residence is in a drug free zone across the street from the high school. During the search authorities found numerous marijuana plants growing in the back yard. The plants were anywhere from three to six feet tall. Deputies also recovered a variety of seedlings and thriving small plants in an indoor marijuana grow. Pot buds and leaves were drying out and in containers, smoking paraphernalia was also found.

Other items found at the home included a stolen suburban and a sawed off shotgun.

A white male was at the home when the search was executed, he was arrested for an outstanding warrant and drug charges. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
