AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo teen has been arrested for running over a girl near Palo Duro High School Friday afternoon. Police said Efrain Hernandez, 17, ran over the 16-year-old pedestrian near the intersection of Don and Johnson street around 12:30. After hitting her, police said Hernandez fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle a short distance from the crash.

He was found a short time later and arrested. He has been booked in Potter County jail on charges of an accident causing injury or death. The teenage girl was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
