AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Dillas will no longer have utilities for the Dilla Villa in their name. That was decided Thursday afternoon by Potter County Commissioners.

They gave the okay to transfer that information to Potter County's account.  The commission wants to make sure all the loose ends are tied up, and there are no unpaid bills with the Dillas' name on them.

So, if there are charges between now and when someone else leases the building, instead of being sent to the Dillas, and then the court, this move will ensure that the county will get the bills paid.

In addition, the stadium is going to be vacant, so they want to make sure the utilities can be legally shut off.  "It really gives us an opportunity to go with maintenance and to utilities the stadium and get it prepared for winter months so the pipes don't freeze and burst," said Joe Kirkwood, a Potter County Commissioner.

Kirkwood also added that so far, he hasn't heard of anyone placing bids to be the next baseball team in Amarillo.  But, the deadline to do that doesn't come up for a few weeks. It is October 25, 2010.
