AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Dust Bowl era in the 1930's was a time when there was severe drought, and with our infamous high winds left homes and farms covered in dust. KACV is putting together a documentary on the Dust Bowl and highlighting survival stories from people around the panhandle. Friday the station interviewed some of those survivors, many just kids, like AnnaBelle Hughes, who lived in Claude at the time.

"I remember how uncomfortable it was, you know, having to deal with the dust every few days because we didn't have it everyday, but we finally just sort of got use to it," said Hughes.

"Folks did whatever they had to do and we just didn't let it ruin our lives we just went ahead and made the best of it," adds Hughes. Ken Burn's "The Dust Bowl" is set to air on KACV sometime in 2012. But folks at the station are planning to travel to Guymon, Dalhart, Panhandle and Perryton to interview survivors.
