AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It'sbeginning to look and sound a lot like Christmas. The Salvation Army's red kettles and Angel Tree campaign officially kicked off Friday. In Amarillo and Canyon there are 24 kettle locations. The Salvation Army says it's important they have a successful year because the money raised from their kettles counts for 2/3 of their budget.
"As your passing that red kettle don't forget us for pretty much all of us in this very short 6 weeks period time we raise approximately 2/3 66 plus % of our budget so our whole year is literally depends upon time of the year," said Major Tim Grider, Salvation Army.
The Angel Tree is also up at the Westgate mall. You can stop by and adopt an angel, you without your help will go without this Christmas.
"Those angels are not only gifts it gives the child something for christmas it helps ease the stress of the parent or guardian but you could say that its almost money for that family," said Major Grider.
The Salvation Army does need volunteers to man those kettles. For a number and more information click on Salvation Army.
