AMARILLO, TX -- The Texas Panhandle War Memorial Park has a new visual and several folks celebrated it today with a special guest speaker.

Phil Johnson, Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, made a visit to Amarillo today to remind people that a restored plane like this should remind us where we have been and what should never be taken for granted.

"Sometimes we forget history and those of us who have been involved with the military, especially in combat, understand how important it is that we never have a war on our shores."

The F-100 fighter bomber was the first US production aircraft to exceed the speed of sound in level flight --setting a world speed record in 1955 of 822 miles per hour.
