Lets face it, the holidays are no time to diet!  But with a few tips and tricks you'll still be able to fit in your jeans on AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Black Friday!

Did you know the average Thanksgiving meal runs around 3,000 Calories? The first rule of thumb to cut down on those calories and carbs, moderate your portion size.

Rule #1 Don't skip breakfast! Eat a healthy breakfast and a low calorie snack before hitting the Thanksgiving buffet! This way you are less likely to over eat.

Rule #2 Visualize Your Portions
Bonnie Taub-Dix, dietitian and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, advises visualizing the following Thanksgiving meal portions:
    * Turkey: One Deck of Playing Cards
    * Starches: Two Computer Mice
    * Pie: Two Slivers (pumpkin pie runs around 300 calories a slice, pecan pie sits at almost 500!)
The Association also advises visualizing your stomach as the size of two fists. If the food on your plate won't fit in your stomach, don't eat it.

Rule #3 avoid finger foods:
Hor d'oeurves can be high in calories and fat.
Don't eat anything that doesn't require a knife and fork.

Above all this Holiday, be thankful for the food on your tables and cherish time spent with family and friends!
